If there were a picture to put with this post it would be of a dunce hat. Today I took my medicines twice within an hour of each other. That means I took 2 blood pressure medicines. The second dose was in the car and as soon as I swallowed the pills I realized what I had done. I had Isaac in the car with me, so I had to keep my panic on the inside while I tried to call the doctor and find out how much I should worry.
Have you ever called the doctor only to get voicemail? Irritating, isn't it? Luckily, my mom works at a nursing home and is surrounded by nurses. I called her next and was told that I should be careful the rest of the day. I turned the car around and went home. My pharmacist told me that I could possibly pass out and feel dizzy most of the day. So, I hung out around the house. I felt tired and a little "disconnected", but I was fine. I'm feeling fine now - other than feeling a little stupid.
I plan on buying one of those pill boxes that "older people" use. If that doesn't work, I'll get a wristwatch with a little alarm that beeps when it's time to take my medication. If that doesn't work, I'm going right to the personal care nurse!
Thanks for checking in

Yeah - don't you love how you can't actually talk to a human at the doctor's office? I went round and round with them trying to get a referral (that I didn't even need after all!) wherein I and the referral lady would just leave each other messages and I was forced to cross my fingers and hope that everything went through all right ("If this is an emergency please hang up the phone and call 911 - because uh, we don't actually have any medical personnel here just an answering machine and a convincing myth!"). Good stuff....maybe that explains the customer service seminars certain health care establishments are instituting for their new employees (maybe now, instead of death, people will choose us because we have classes that tell us how to at least convincingly pretend to care about people!).
Ahem, anyhow, glad you lived to tell the tale (and hey, it gave you something to blog about....). Good luck with your "I'm a geezer" pill holder (by "older people" you did mean "geezers," right?). ;-)
(Arentcha glad I stopped by to comment? You *wanted* this...)
Ok, chalk it up to age, that is what I do. I have done the same thing. I have a bottle of pills upstairs and one in the kitchen. I have taken it upstairs when I get dressed and then taken another when I get to the kitchen. Although I don't pass out, I just don't sleep that night!
I have one of those grandma pill bottles, I forget to fill it!
I am glad it all worked out well for you.
